Upload notifications

Last Updated 3 days ago

Quickchannel can send email notifications to selected recipients when new media is uploaded to the account.

Upload notifications are configured at account level and can only be managed by users with the Administrator role.

Go to Settings → Upload → Notifications.

For more information about roles and permissions, see User roles in the Console.

Add notification recipients

Under E-mails, add the email addresses that should receive upload notifications.

You can add multiple recipients if more than one person should be notified when new media is uploaded.

The recipients do not need to be the users who configure the notification. The email addresses entered here determine who receives the notification.

Customize the notification

The notification email can be customized using the Subject and Body fields.

Both fields can contain template macros. When the email is sent, the macros are replaced with the corresponding information about the account, media or media owner.

Select Help to see the available template macros.

Available template macros

MacroDescription
%account%Account name
%accountid%Account identifier
%date%UTC date and time when media was created
%date.local%%date% localized according to account settings
%description%Media description
%embedcode%Media iframe embed code
%mediaid%Media unique identifier
%mediatype%Media type (audio or video)
%title%Media title
%user%Media owner (Full name <email@address.com>)
%user.email%Media owner email address
%user.name%Media owner full name

Template macros can be entered using either all lowercase, as shown above, or all uppercase, for example %USER.EMAIL%.

For example, you could use the following subject:

New media uploaded: %title%

When the notification is sent, %title% is replaced with the title of the uploaded media.

Macros can also be combined in the Body to include information such as the media owner, creation date, media ID or embed code.

Opening the media from the notification

The notification email includes an Open in Console option that links to the uploaded media.

If the recipient has access to Quickchannel Console, they can use the link to open the media. If they are not currently authenticated, they will be directed to the login page before accessing the media.
