Upload page - Configuring upload defaults and formats
The Upload page contains the account-wide default settings for uploaded media, upload notifications and video formats.
Go to Settings → Upload.
Use this page to configure how new uploads are handled by default. Settings for individual media can be changed later where applicable.
Defaults
The Defaults section controls settings that are automatically applied to newly uploaded media.
General settings
You can configure the default Moderation status and Category for new uploads.
If the default moderation status is set to Approved, newly uploaded media can automatically appear on your Videosite when the Videosite is configured to display the relevant content.
Poster image
Choose how poster images should be handled for new uploads.
You can use an account default poster image or allow Quickchannel to select a representative frame from the uploaded video.
The account default poster image is also used as the default when creating new live events.
The maximum file size for a poster image is 10 MB.
Poster images can later be changed for individual media.
Watermark
A watermark can be applied automatically to uploaded media.
Select None to upload without a watermark or Account default to use the account watermark. Use Change to upload a new account default watermark.
The watermark is burned into the video during processing and cannot be changed for a video after it has been uploaded. The source file is not affected.
The watermark is centered and scaled to fit the video.
For best results:
- Use the same aspect ratio and resolution as the highest-resolution videos uploaded to the account. For example, 1920 × 1080 for 16:9 Full HD video.
- Use an image with a transparent background.
- PNG is recommended, although most common image formats are supported.

Notifications
Quickchannel can send an email notification when new media is uploaded to the account.
Under Notifications, add the email addresses that should receive upload notifications.
The email Subject and Body can be customized using predefined macros. Use the Help option in Console to see the macros currently available.
This makes it possible to include information about the uploaded media directly in the notification.
Users with access to Console can use Open in Console from the notification to open the media directly. Users who are not already authenticated will be directed to the login page.
Formats
The Formats section controls the video formats generated for uploaded media on the account.
The available formats depend on the account configuration.
For information about source files and recommended encoding settings, see Recommended upload format.
For information about supported containers and codecs, see Supported video formats.
