Advertising page - Configuring video advertising

Last Updated 22 days ago

The Advertising page contains the account-wide settings for video advertising in Quickchannel.

Go to Settings → Advertising.

Quickchannel supports advertising through VAST and VMAP ad tags provided by a third-party ad server.

VAST advertising

With VAST, separate ad tags can be configured for different positions in the video:

  • Pre-roll – plays before the video starts.
  • Mid-roll – plays during the video.
  • Post-roll – plays after the video has ended.

Enter the VAST tag URL provided by your ad server in the corresponding field.

You can configure one or several of these positions depending on how you want advertising to be presented.

For more information about supported advertising formats and how VAST works in the Quickchannel player, see VAST advertising.

VMAP advertising

With VMAP, a single Ad tag is used instead of configuring separate Pre-roll, Mid-roll and Post-roll tags.

Enter the VMAP tag provided by your ad server in the Ad tag field.

The ad configuration returned by the ad server determines when advertising is presented during playback.

For more information about how VMAP is handled by the player, see VAST in the Quickchannel Player.

Disable advertising for individual media

The settings on the Advertising page configure advertising at the account level, but advertising can be disabled for individual media when needed.

Open the media and locate Advertising under Publication, then turn the setting off.

This allows individual videos or live events to be excluded from advertising without changing the account-wide advertising configuration.

Testing ad tags

If advertising is not displayed as expected, you can test the VAST tag separately to verify that the ad server returns a valid response.

See Testing my VAST tags for more information.
